Mercedes Reveal AMG GT

Mercedes have added to an enthralling few days in the industry. Following exciting developments for Land Rover with the Discover Sport, and more recently Jaguar with the long-awaited XE, the German manufacturing giant has waded in with the official reveal of their 2015 AMG GT.

A bespoke finish and cutting edge design may give the GT a significant advantage over its more rugged competitors.

The vehicle will be equipped with a turbocharged 4.0-litre V8, and have two variations from launch, the GT and the GT S, and while both vehicles will be powered by the same engine, the GT will settle for a 456bhp in contrast to the powerful looking GT S which will enjoy a significant upgradeto 503bhp. A seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox will also be included, and the GT S will boast outstanding acceleration statistics, being able to jump from 0-62mph in 3.8seconds.

Mercedes have dismissed suggestions that the GT will act as a replacement for the popular SLS model, and has instead decreed that focus will be on rivals such as the Porsche 911 and Jaguar F-Type. No pressure then. Instead, Mercedes have hand-picked the most defining elements of that original model and replicated them when designing the GT. Those smooth grooves that can be viewed inset really support the streamlined product that Mercedes is attempting to offer. The bonnet is perhaps a bit on the lengthy side, but when the overall appearance is this beautiful, you can’t really complain. The rear end is incredibly sleek with the eye-catching forks of lights undoubtedly the focal point. The front also adopts a suitably swish demeanour with a fierce aluminium grille sporting the trademark Mercedes logo, synonymous with excellent design, finish and overall quality of the vehicle.

There won’t be any back seats, and while that may be a drawback should you be looking for the family car of the year, it probably won’t make a blind bit of difference to potential GT customers. Although, a 350-litre boot is set to make the best of this space, and will have easily enough room for all your essentials. As per the Mercedes way, the car will be equipped with the AMG centre console - a staple for modern Mercedes – as well as a new touchpad that was most recently seen in the brand new C-Class. Seat heating, extendable spoiler functionality and hazard light buttons will also be available. In the roof. Where else?

On the face of it, the car appears incredibly well-rounded offering a subtle balance between comfort, durability and sheer power. Most notably, the introduction of Double Wishbone Suspension and internal looking differential. For customers who want to go that extra mile there are added extras such as carbon-ceramic brakes and enhanced Michelin Sport Cup 2 tyres.

The car will be given a full unveiling with a greater range of specs, prices and more refined information being released at the Paris Motor Show in early October.       Until then; enjoy this tantalising sneak peek:

I had a great first experience with leasing from Select car leasing and am so happy with my new car David talked me through the whole process and answered any questions I had..he explained everything in basic terms so I knew and understood everything We waited a few days for the credit checks to come back and I asked David if it usually took this long..he assured me it did so I think it was about 5 working days and he rang with the good news The paperwork side of things then took over and once that was all completed,it was just to wait for a date The whole process was done over the portal so you could keep up to date with any developments but if you had any questions, then David was reachable by phone We had a date for the car delivery and the driver turned up after giving me a ring, earlier in the morning to confirm a time..the car arrived and I checked it over as we had to sign to say say everything was OK with the car. All is great and am so happy with my new car I would highly recommend this company for your lease car
