Skoda reveal 2015 Superb Estate

Skoda have enjoyed something of a golden age in the UK in the last few years with the brand racking up an incredible 75,000 sales in 2014, an increase of over 10,000 on their figures last year and enough to put in them in the top band of manufacturers last calendar. In fact, Skoda powered into the Top 10 best-selling manufacturers in the month of December alone.

Skoda will be hoping, and will likely be quietly confident, that their sales this year will continue to exceed those made the year before and with an illustrious line-up planned this hope does not appear misplaced.

The 2015 Skoda range has been given another bolstering following the reveal of an all-new Superb Estate model. The previous Superb Estate was responsible for up to 75% of Skoda’s sales in the UK which suggests how important it is that Skoda’s latest project is well-received.

Early indications are good with many motorists beginning to sit-up and notice when it comes to Skoda thanks to the vehicle’s striking exterior design.

Of course, being an estate car much of the early information filtering out has been focused on the vehicle’s profiency when it comes to storage. The boot space has been extended to an unbelievable 660-litres – 27 litres greater than the outgoing model – and folding down the rear seats will bring this figure to a whopping 2,000-litres. The vehicle is 4,856mm in length and the interior construction means leg and height room will not be a problem.

What of the engines? Skoda have revealed the works on this front with many of the engines providing some of the cleanest emissions of any vehicle in the class. There will be two diesels, a 118bhp TDI and a 187bhp 2.0 TDI which will also be 4x4. In terms of petrols the most powerful is a 2.0 TSI 4x4 offering 276bhp and a slightly less nippy 123bhp 1.4 TSI version. A GreenLine model is also expected to join the line-up with the engine offering a suitable alternative for those looking at minimal running costs and emissions.

There will be a number of trims available including S, SE, SE Business and SE L Executive as well as a special Laurin & Klement model as per the Skoda tradition. The vehicle is expected to land sometime this winter with an official unveiling expected at the annual Frankfurt Motor Show.
